[Guide] Must Check These before Buying Zenfone 2


There are some issues experienced by some customers zenfone 2. Make sure you check out some of the following checklist before you buy Zenfone 2 and make sure your zenfone 2 official warranty.

  1. Crooked USB charging jack, Some user got this issue
  2. Hairline Scratch, Even out of the box some user experienced this issue
  3. Screen Display Quality, Beware of Dark Spot and Grey Spot. To test you can go to Test Mode (Tutorial Here)
  4. Camera Problem, Usually User got this issue (Open Camera -> Select Ultra High Resolution Mode)
  5. Booting Test, Check if it is Booting Properly
  6. Browsing Test, Check if the screen flickering while browsing or not
  7. Signal, Wifi, and Bluetooth Test

[Zenfone 2] How to Enter Recovery, Wipe Data, Wipe Cache


What is recovery?  In Android, recovery refers to the dedicated, bootable partition that has the recovery console installed.  A combination of key presses (or instructions from a command line) will boot your phone to recovery, where you can find tools to help repair (recover) your installation as well as install official OS updates. 

Today Asus Zenfone Blog will teach you How to Enter Recovery Mode, Wipe Data via recovery and Wipe Cache.

Entering Recovery Mode

  1. Turn off your Zenfone 2
  2. Hold Power button + Volume up
  3. When the phone is vibrating release power button
  4. Then the display change like this:
  5. You can select Normal Boot or recovery Boot by pressing Volume up/volume down. To enter recovery choose recovery mode
  6. Then You will see sleep android robot, Press Power button + Volume up and release the buttons
  7. The you will see Asus Zenfone 2 Recovery Mode

Wipe data and Cache

  1. Enter Recovery Mode like above
  2. To Wipe Data: With Volume up/down, choose Wipe data/Factory reset
  3. To Wipe Cache: choose wipe cache partition
  4.  Choose YES
  5.  Wait Until Complete

    [Zenfone 4 5 6] Android 5.0 Lollipop Beta Ready to Roll out


    From Zentalk Taiwan Beta Tester Section, Android 5.0 (Lollipop) For Zenfone 4 is Ready for the Next Beta Firmware.



    Zenfone 5/6 v3.xx.xxx will be the version of Android 5.0 Lollipop
    Zenfone 4 v7.x.x will be the version of Android 5.0 Lollipop

    Note: Beta Firmware only restricted to several person (beta tester), after the evaluation complete ASUS will roll out Android 5.0 (lollipop) for Zenfone 4/5/6.  

    Asus Zenfone 2 USB OTG Test


    USB On-The-Go, often abbreviated to USB OTG or just OTG, is a specification first used in late 2001, that allows USB devices such as digital audio players or mobile phones to act as a host, allowing other USB devices like a USB flash drive, digital camera, mouse, or keyboard to be attached to them.

    Asus Zenfone 2 Support USB OTG, but the power is very low (Arround 0.3 A). And to perform USB OTG your Flash drive/External Hard disk must be NTFS format. To perform USB OTG you must have OTG Cable which not included inside Zenfone 2 box.

    Read Flash drive via OTG

    When open Flash drive with USB OTG, Zenfone 2 can do it without additional power. To open Flash drive go to File Manager and select USBDisk. To eject Flash drive, go to Settings>Storage>Eject USB Disk


    Read External Hard disk with OTG


     To read External Hard disk with OTG, Zenfone 2 need additional power (charger/power bank) and Y-OTG cable.

    Instructions

    1. Download File Above and Extract
    2. Enable Zenfone C USB Debugging (Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging) and Connect to Laptop/PC
    3. Install ADB Driver 
    4. Open Asus Intel Root kit Folder and run "CheckBeforeAction.bat" and Follow the Instructions
    5. Your Zenfone C will be reboot then run"root.bat"
    6. Finish, Enjoy your Rooted Zenfone C













    How to Use Snapview at Zenfone 2


    Users - SnapView

    SnapView, which can be regarded as a new user, provides an extra space where you can store photos, files, and apps separately. All photos, files, and apps that are stored in SnapView can not be accessed when you are in an account of owner or other users.

    How to use SnapView

    After SnapView account is set up, you can access "SnapView" or "Owner" by entering different screen lock password or pattern when the device is in sleep mode.

    Settings

    1. Go to "Settings" -> "Users" -> "Add user" -> "SnapView". 
    Note: Only one user can be added on your phone. Therefore, you can not add another user after you create SnapView.



    2. Select your screen lock method.



    3. You need to separately set up Owner's and SnapView's screen lock.


      
    4. Set up your phone settings since a new user (SnapView) is activated.

      



    5. Slide down the screen to access system notifications and then tap "You're in SnapView" to enter SnapView settings.

      You can set up your preferences here.

    Dummy notification sent from SnapView

    If you log in LINE in SnapView and then go back to Owner, a dummy notification (from SnapView) will be appeared as shown below when someone send you a message via LINE. Even you tap the dummy notification, no action will be triggered. The real notification can be seen only when you are in SnapView. Moreover, you can modify the text of dummy notification per your preference.

    How to remove SnapView

    Tap "Delete SnapView". Please note all data in SnapView (files and SnapView account) will be deleted.
