LG V10 goes official with secondary display and a duo of front-facing cameras

LG officially announced the high-end V10 smartphone with secondary display and a duo of front-facing cameras. The Korean manufacturer’s latest flagship phablet will hit the shelves in Korea this month in five different color schemes - Space Black, Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue, and Opal Blue.
Just as the leaks suggested, the defining feature of the LG V10 is a secondary display located above the handset’s 5.7” QHD unit. The 2.1” additional screen has a resolution of 1040 x 160 pixels and can display app shortcuts and other relevant information in always on mode.
In addition to the rather unique display setup, LG V10 packs a duo of 5MP front-facing cameras. One of the units has a standard angle lens, while the other on offers a wide angle solution for easy group selfies.
LG V10 features a body with 316L stainless steel frame and a display covered by dual-layer Gorilla Glass 4.The removable back cover of the device is made of silicon-like material dubbed Dura Skin.
Specs-wise, LG V10 packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of expandable memory via microSD card slot. A fingerprint sensor that's embedded in the power button, Hi-Fi DAC, full connectivity suite, and 3,000mAh removable battery are also on board. The handset boots Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
The main camera of the smartphone is the same 16MP unit with f/1.8 lens and laser autofocus found in LG G4. This time around, LG has brought manual controls even to the smartphone’s camcorder. Users can even adjust the sound volume of the clips they record.
Physical measures of the LG V10 are 159.6 x 79.3 x 8.6mm. Its weight tips the scale at 192 grams.
LG V10 will launch in the United States, China, as well as other markets in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Specific launch details about each market will be announced in the near future.

LG G4 Pro stops by GFXBench with a 5.7'' display and 4GB of RAM

LG is apparently set to breathe new life to its high-end phablet lineup (not that the 5.5-inch G4 can't pass for a phablet) sooner rather than later. The new G4 Pro has been mentioned often over the past few months, sometimes as G4 Note, but never actually posed live.

This hasn't changed, but at least the successor to the G Pro 2 has now shown up in a benchmark listing, with some key specs outlined. And before you get too excited - it's nothing but a slightly beefed up version of the good ol' G4.

GFXBench lists display size at 5.7 inches - precisely midway between the G4 and the G Pro 2, and on par with the yet-unofficial V10. Just like that ticker-packing model, the G4 Pro's display has a QHD resolution. The other immediately noticeable difference is RAM, where the Pro bumps the G4's 3GB up a digit.

Other than those two changes, it's more or less the same device as the plain G4. The hexa-core 1.8GHz CPU is inside a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, primary camera is 16MP, the front facing one is 5MP, and the phone runs Android 5.1.1.

Now, a benchmark listing won't give an answer to the question of metal or plastic build, so we'll go with the latest bit of info and assume it's plastic for now. Apparently, there's not much waiting left before we know for a fact, as the G4 Pro may be set for an October 10 announcement.

LG Nexus 5X goes on pre-order in the UK

Those in the UK not disheartened by the Nexus 5X ridiculous EU pricing can now pre-order the device from a range of known retailers.

The 32GB version of the phone is now available for pre-order at Unlocked Mobile and Clove UK for £375 and £379, respectively. Carphone Warehouse offers the phone for a bit less at £350 for the 32GB version and £300 for the 16GB variant. The store also exclusively offers the Ice color variant.
Amazon UK is yet to offer the phone, but we'll post an update here once this happens.
For that money the Nexus 5X gives you a 5.2" 1080p display, Snapdragon 808 chip with a 1.8GHz hexa-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, USB Type-C, a 12.3MP camera and 16GB or 32GB of non-expandable internal storage.

New Nexus phones are designed to work with all US carriers

The newly-launched LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P smartphones, which are now up for pre-order on the Google Store from several countries, are compatible with all US carriers.

Usually, unlocked devices only work with GSM carriers, such as AT&T and T-Mobile, but the new Nexus phones will also work with carriers like Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular as the handsets support CDMA bands 0, 1, and 10.

For those who aren't already aware, while the 5.7" Nexus 6P starts at $500, the 5.2" Nexus 5X will set you back $380 for the 16GB variant.

LG Nexus 5X launches with a Snapdragon 808 and 1080p display

Enough with the rumors, the LG Nexus 5X is finally official. The phone was just unveiled at Google's Nexus and Android event.
The phone is built around a 5.2" IPS LCD display of 1080p resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 424ppi. The screen is covered with a layer of Gorilla Glass 3.

Google launches the Nexus 5X with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It runs on the Snapdragon 808 chipset with a hexa-core CPU, 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 418 GPU. Internal storage is either 16GB or 32GB with no option to expand it.
At the back, the 5X sports a 12.3MP camera sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and 1.55 micron pixel size. Sadly, it lacks OIS but is nevertheless capable of shooting 2160p video. LG has thrown in its IR laser-assisted autofocus and a broad-spectrum dual flash setup.

Measuring 147 x 72.6 x 7.9m, the Nexus 5X is slightly thinner than its predecessor. Weight is up to 136 grams, from 130 grams for the Nexus 5 (2013). The added weight has come from the addition of a fingerprint sensor and a larger 2700mAh battery (the Nexus 5 touts 2300mAh). At the bottom, there's a next-gen microUSB Type-C port.

Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2x2 MIMO), NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS/GLONASS. There's a single front-facing speaker, which is joined by 3 microphones (at the front, top and bottom).

The LG Nexus 5X will be available for pre-order starting September 29. Those in the US, UK, South Korea, Japan and Ireland will be able to pre-order the phone starting at $379.99 for the 16GB variant.

Leak suggests AT&T will carry LG Class

The LG Class smartphone, which was announced last week and is currently only available in the company's home country of South Korea, will be available on AT&T in the US, according to the usually reliable leakster @evleaks.

There was, however, no word on when it will be available in the US and what price tag it will carry. Currently, in South Korea, the handset costs somewhere around $340.

Specs-wise, the mid-ranger is powered by a Snapdragon 410 chipset with 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, and sports a 5-inch 720p IPS touchscreen with 2.5D curved glass. It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable memory, and packs in a 2,050 mAh battery.

In terms of camera, the Class features a 13MP rear unit and an 8MP front shooter. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and features a unibody metal construction. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC, while color options include gold, silver, and black.

LG Nexus 5X specs leak in full ahead of tomorrow’s announcement

The full specs of the upcoming LG Nexus 5X leaked out with less than 24 hours to go until its scheduled announcement. LG’s second Nexus smartphone will debut alongside Huawei Nexus 6P at an event in San Francisco tomorrow.

In line with past rumors, LG Nexus 5X will sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, coupled with 2GB of RAM. The display will be a 5.2” 1080p unit with pixel density of 424 ppi.

Just like the Huawei Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X will have a 12.3MP main camera with f/2.0 lens, large 1.55 μM pixels, laser autofocus, and 4K video capture. The front-facing unit will be a 5MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 1.4 μM pixels.

LG Nexus 5X will have physical measures of 147 x 72.6 x 7.9mm. Its weight will tip the scale at 136 grams.

Of course, the usual bevy of sensors will be present in the Nexus 5X. The handset will have a fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C port.

Earlier today, we found out that pricing of the Nexus 5X will kick off at $379.99 when its becomes available for pre-order tomorrow. A 32GB variant of the handset will also be available.

New LG V10 teaser offers a glimpse of the device's dual-screen

As you have probably heard, LG is planning to spice things up a little with the upcoming LG V10. What started out as a quirky and quite questionable dual screen phablet, has now passed through TENAA and appeared in a few leaks, more or less proving its existence.

But if there was any doubt left, LG's new teaser for the product, definitively proves that the smartphone will be unveiled on October 1. The video itself doesn't really offer too much info, nor does it give us a proper look and the V10. All we get is a glimpse of the second screen near the top of the unit, along with what looks to be a dual front camera setup.

Thankfully, a previous render does offers a better view of the V10, with the small secondary screen clearly visible above the main display. In this render it's filled with five app shortcuts, but perhaps it will have some other uses too - we can imagine LG might allow it to also show a few contacts, for example, in a similar fashion to the Edge display on Samsung's Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 edge+.

The teaser video does offer a vague reference to personalization with the "be you" slogan, so we can only assume that this will be LG's main marketing angle for the device. It is still interesting to see exactly how the second screen will work.


According to the aforementioned TENAA listing, the LG V10 will spout a spacious 5.7-inch QHD display and run on the Snapdragon 808 SoC, just like the LG G4. Memory is set at 3GB and 64GB of expandable storage.

The camera setup consists of a 16MP main shooter with a dual-LED flash and what is listed as a 5MP shooter on the front.

LG Nexus 5X gets the leaked press render treatment too

A very short while ago we showed you the first leaked press renders for the upcoming Huawei Nexus 6P, and now it's time for the other 2015 Nexus to be portrayed in all its glory.

The LG Nexus 5X will come in three color versions (unlike the Huawei Nexus 6P's four), and they are white, black, and "ice blue". You can get an idea of what these look like in the second leaked render below.


The Nexus 5X features front-facing stereo speakers, a fingerprint scanner on its back, and a laser autofocus system for its main camera alongside the dual-LED flash. Material-wise we may be looking at polycarbonate here, whereas the Huawei model could sport a metal unibody construction.


Previously leaked specs for the LG Nexus 5X talked about it having a 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 running the show with its hexa-core CPU. The handset will also come with a USB Type-C port, a 12.3 MP rear camera, a 5 MP selfie cam, 2GB of RAM, 16GB base storage, and a 2,700 mAh battery. It will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P will be unveiled by Google at an event next week, on September 29. The Nexus 5X could be priced from $400.

LG G5 tipped to come with a 20MP 1/2'' Sony sensor, Snapdragon 820

The LG G4 was universally praised for its camera output and we were big fans of it ourselves. About 5 months after it was made official, we're beginning to hear its successor mentioned every now and then.

An anonymous source, who claims to have inside information, is now shedding light on two of the most important bits of the potential G5's hardware. The camera, for one, will use a new Sony-made 20MP sensor with a half-inch diagonal - one of the largest around.

For example the G4 has a 1/2.6" diagonal, this year's Samsung Galaxies (S6/S6 edge/S6 edge+/Note5) and the iPhone 6/6 Plus use a smaller 1/3" chip, and Sony's own Xperia Z5 series boast a 1/2.3" imager. All those are of course miniature compared to the 1/1.2" sensor of the Nokia PureView 808, but iconic or not, the 808 is ancient history. What's even more interesting though, is that the new sensor will only be provided to LG, and won't be used by other manufacturers.

The source also states that the upcoming LG flagship will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 chip. That's an easy assumption to make without insider information, but reports have been surfacing that LG is in development of its own top-end chipset. Apparently though, LG will stay in Qualcomm's camp for yet another generation.

The source has been deemed trustworthy, but even if the above is correct at the time of writing, there's no less than 6 months before we get to see the LG G5, so bear in mind that things may change.

LG Nexus 5X key specs outed on Amazon, 16GB base model

Easily one of the most anticipated releases ahead of us, the LG Nexus 5X is likely to be unveiled on September 29. Little has been left to the imagination, and the smartphone has shown up in benchmark listings and more than one blurry hands-on photoshoot.



If that wasn't revealing enough, Amazon.in has now jumped the gun and listed the upcoming Nexus 5X, confirming some key specs. Yes, it is going to have a 5.2-inch FullHD display, and yes, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 808 chipset. No surprises in the imaging department, either - rumors of a 12.3MP primary camera and a 5MP front-facing one turn out to be true.

Apparently the base model will come with just 16GB of internal storage. Big brother Huawei Nexus 6P, set to launch alongside the LG model, will reportedly have versions going all the way up to 128GB, but don't be surprised if the Nexus 5X only has 16GB/32GB variants.



Another new bit of info is the battery capacity, quoted at 2,700mAh, and dimensions are stated to be 154 x 76 x 10mm, though we might see fractions of a millimeter added or deducted from these rounded numbers. Whether it's 175g (in the weight cell) or 177g (item weight, what's the difference?), the Nexus 5X is pretty hefty for its size.

The listing contains no images (not that we haven't seen a fair share), and the smartphone is obviously listed as "Currently unavailable". No price yet, either.

Dual-screen LG V10 is shown in another leaked image

LG is working on an Android smartphone with two displays - and they're both on the front. This device, known as the V10, was caught at Chinese regulatory agency TENAA a while back, and it might become official at an LG event that's taking place on October 1.

In the meantime, though, we're treated to a new leaked image showing the LG V10, which you can see on the left. And this time around the small secondary screen is clearly visible above the main display.

In this render it's filled with five app shortcuts, but perhaps it will have some other uses too - we can imagine LG might allow it to also show a few contacts, for example, in a similar fashion to the Edge display on Samsung's Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 edge+.

The secondary screen reminds us of Verizon's Samsung Continuum from 2010, which featured a 1.8-inch 480x96 AMOLED touchscreen underneath the main display. To put it lightly, the Continuum never reached bestseller status, so it's unclear if LG's attempt at a similar product will be more successful.

According to the aforementioned TENAA listing, the LG V10 will have a 5.7-inch QHD main touchscreen, a 16 MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and laser autofocus, a 5 MP selfie cam, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a fingerprint scanner built into the power key, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 chipset at the helm.

LG Class becomes official with slim metal case, mid-range specs

Just as previously teased, today LG made a new smartphone official in South Korea. It's called LG Class, and for a while we thought it would be a mid-range phablet. Mid-range it is, but size-wise it's just a 5-incher.
The Class features a unibody metal construction, which, when paired with its specs, reminds us a little bit of Samsung's Galaxy A series of handsets.

The LG Class comes in three colors - gold, silver, and black. It has a 5-inch 720p IPS touchscreen with 2.5D curved glass, a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, an 8 MP selfie snapper, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and a 2,050 mAh battery.

It's powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 chipset, boasting a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU. The phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. Its dimensions are 142 x 71.8 x 7.4 mm, and it weighs 147g.

The price in South Korea has been set at KRW 399,300, which amounts to approximately $338 or €301 at the current exchange rates. It's still unclear if LG plans on bringing the Class to other markets in the future.

New leaked photos seem to show the LG Class, but not in a phablet form factor

If you've been keeping a close eye on LG lately, then you already know about the LG Class. We only recently got out first glimpse of the device in an official LG teaser and believed it to be an interesting metal, mid-range phablet offer. This was further backed-up by a timely benchmark leak, of a mysterious H740 device.


But a new set of photos has now popped up online that seems to tell a different story about the LG Class. The device is, in fact, only hours away from unveiling and we know that part for sure, from LG itself, but it might not be a phablet at all. The new stills look quite believable, despite coming from a shady source and the depicted unit is undoubtedly the on featured in LG's banner.


However, if we believe that the photos are legitimate, that also brings quite a bit of credibility to the accompanying specs. According to them, the LG Class will have a 5.0-inch 720p display, instead of a 5.7-inch 1080p one, like we previously thought. There are some discrepancies in the chipset as well, with the new leak citing the MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 SoC, instead of a Snapdragon 615 one. RAM, however, is still at 2GB and 16GB for internal storage, plus a microSD card slot. The camera setup seems to consist of a 13MP main shooter and an 8MP one on the front. So, if this new leak holds some air, the LG Class looks to be more of an entry-level device, rather than a mid-range one.


It is also quite hard to guess whether the phone's 142 x 71.8 x 7.4 mm body is metal or not, based on the shots alone, but that is most likely a given, considering the teaser slogan - "Something New". This definitely puts a new twist to the story and begs the question of which information is true. There is also the possibility that both devices exist, perhaps even under the same Class name. But, we digress.
In any case, this should all be cleared up pretty soon come the September 21 LG event.

New LG Nexus 5 leaks in mint attire

The bulk of leaks we've been seeing recently has revolved around Google's upcoming device launches, the pair of them. The LG Nexus 5 and the Huawei Nexus 6 take turns appearing in the hands of insiders, and this time it's the former.
The angle here is that the smaller Nexus will be available in a third Mint color option, in addition to the already seen White and Black. The picture shows a very gentle tint and if it weren't for the source to testify that it is indeed mint, one could have just assumed it's white, and the camera messed up the white balance.

Not much else gets revealed this time around and we're left with previously rumored specs, which point to a 5.2-inch FullHD display, Snapdragon 808 chipset, 3GB of RAM and a 12.3MP/5MP camera combo. Pioneering Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the LG Nexus 5 (2015), or maybe Nexus 5X, is rumored to be unveiled on September 29 alongside the higher-end Huawei Nexus 6 (2015, perhaps).
